Eight years ago, Citadel fell. The independent international espionage agency, born with the aim of defending everyone’s safety, was destroyed by the agents of a powerful association called Manticore which, in the shadows, manipulates the world.

With the fall of Citadel, all memories of chosen agents Mason Kane (British actor Richard Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Indian actress and model Priyanka Chopra) were erased, but they miraculously managed to save themselves. Since then, they have remained hidden, building a new life and a new identity, unaware of their past.

The compelling Amazon Prime Video TV series “Citadel“, which also stars Stanley Tucci, winner of two Golden Globes, and actress Lesley Manville, is therefore focused on a mission that takes the protagonists around the world . With a stop also in Italy. The Russo brothers, Anthony and Joe, producers of the spy-story "Citadel" have in fact fallen in love with one of the most picturesque corners of our country: Lake Como.

Even the directors of "Citadel" were enchanted by the villages overlooking the Lario, by the historic buildings and by those unique views that inspired some scenes.

A futuristic train, like the legendary Lario Express, which however runs along the Lecco shore, darts along the shores of Lake Como, showing those typical landscapes that we Italians know well. And then there is the wonderful village of Bellagio for which foreigners go crazy.

The pearl of Lake Como, in whose waters Priyanka Chopra is "fished out", as well as a town much loved by international stars, where it is easy to spot many celebrities, is famous for its truly exclusive geographical position: the village is, in fact, on the northern end of the Larian Triangle, right at the point where the two branches of the lake divide. Surmounted by the Alps, this enchanting municipality is one of the most visited places in the Como area.

The "Citadel" hospital would be located in Bellagio which, in reality, is that of the nearby Municipality of Gravedona ed Uniti, a delightful town with a castle, the historic center, full of small squares, houses leaning against each other, alleys and steep and endless stairways that plunge into the blue of the lake.

An open-air set
For years now, Lake Como has been the backdrop for numerous films and TV series. "Ocean's twelve" is probably the film that brings together the most spectacular cast in American history. Starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts, the film is partly set in two villas located right on the lake, Villa Erba in Cernobbio and Villa Oleandra in Laglio, which Clooney fell in love with to the point of having bought it.

The Villa del Balbianello in Lenno is the romantic backdrop to the second episode of the famous saga of "Star Wars - Attack of the Clones". Some of the best scenes were filmed here, including the clandestine wedding between Anakin Skywalker (played by Hayden Christensen) and Padmé (Natalie Portman).

And again, one of the many 007 films, "Casino Royale", was partly filmed in this splendid villa as well as in Villa La Gaeta in Acquaseria. Just as some scenes of the film "House of Gucci" were set on the lake with Lady Gaga in the role of Patrizia Reggiani and Adam Driver who plays Maurizio Gucci, and in particular in the village of Ossuccio, overlooking the Comacina island, the only island of the whole lake.
